My Evaluation of my Media Product

My Media Product was completed I had it peer assessed and teacher assessed to meet thier criteria or to see if there was any problems or lack of sound clarity in my Product.
I Personally think that my own Media Product wasn't as perfect as it could be but it was to my satisfacation in the time I had to finish. But I could've done better with my recording and how I presented it but I had to also plan my blog and what I was going to write.
If I had put more effort into the Product it may of came out better or even I could've proposed better ideas or even write better scripts for my self. I should of added more enthusiasm to my recordings so I can my unique personality to this but I didnt, so It didnt have a unique touch I would've wanted and turned out to be as all other radio broadcasts.

Peer Assessment Nathan: ' Hitesh's Media Product was pretty good compared to others that I have listened to but could've done with some tweaking at the end an the way he presented his ideas was roughly planned so if he had done this I think it would be up there with one of the best in the class. But personally I think he done good with what he had and how much effort he put it is what he got out equally with his Final Media Product'

What I have learnt in the progression from it to be the full product

When I had started firstly on my pre-liminary task I had no knowledge on Adobe Audition but as the weeks progressed I had learnt alot such as: learning and co-operating with friends, learning with them, using programmes properly and how I peer assessed work and how othered assessed mine. I had learnt alot and created a 5 minute radio jingle in a matter of months which took alot of effort aswell as patience due to getting used to the program was sort of annoying which acted like a stepping stone for me in a way.
I had learnt alot of things from the pre-lim to the final product such as determination, co-operation and enhancing my music sense as well as different styles of talking in different situations.
This is what I have learnt in the past 3-4 months working on my Media Product.

What I had learnt from technologies whilst constructing my media product

From using Adobe Audition for the first time I had learnt the trade of it all. I have expertise in near enough all of the Adobe Programmes and many other programs as well. Adobe Edition for me took me getting to because It had many functions that I had no idea of. It was impressive the way you can cut parts you dont need and how you can blend and pan the recordings.
Also in Adobe Audition you could undo mistake and un-numerable amount of times thus making it more easy to use.
I had also used facilities such as they have radio stations have: recording studio, mix board etc. When I first saw it I was quite confused on not knowing how to use it but over the period of months I had adapted to it. I think that the eqipment that i had worked with was very high standard and thus more easier to understand due to the quality having clarity and proffessionalism

How did I attract my Intended audience?

I attended to attract my audience by following some of the conventions that I had picked up from my deconstructions of radio broadcasts. So as all youth attended broadcasts start off with lively music that I followed aswell as broadcasting stories such as Knife Crime and A Level results thus targeting teenagers and as teenagers like following trends for any weather conditions I had included that also to aware my attended audience.

The audience of my Media Product.

My intended audience for my media product would be every teenager that lived in the NW London region. The Gender, Ethnicity and Religion of my intended audience all vary due to NW London being such a multi cultural and diverse area, so there wouldnt be a specific Gender,Religion or Ethnicity.

What Media Institution might distribute My Media Product and why

I personally think that a local radio station will broadcast my station this will be because it has been structured and presented to fit into a local radio broadcast/station which would be based in North West London.

How my Media Product Represents particular social groups

In my 5 minute radio jingle I worked in a group which consisted of mixed nationalities. My group members were Nathan, Zeinab, Hadiya and Me. As a group we each had a part to play in the recordings and what things were going to be said and in what way. Nathan was my outside broadcast presenter reporting a serious story, Zeinab was the Health Education Officer which made an visit to the radio station and Hadiya who reported a somewhat hilarious story.

My Media Product can represent my intended audience which are teenagers on the go. This can be shown by the various techniques that I have used such as upbeat music and quick and snappy stories.

How does my media product use, develop or challnge forms of conventions in real media product?

My completed Media Product does follow some of the conventions of a radio broadcast. The conventions that it follow's is that of the speed of how the stories are read and what stories are presented as well as how long they spend on each story. I also use a theme tune which also helps recognise the radio station or broadcast that my intended audience is listening to.
I had attempted to add some interesting sounds which are rarely used on broadcasts as well as adding A upbeat sound which helps the audience stay in tune.

The Putting together of my Radio Jingle on Adobe Audition

24/02/2009( THE WORK IN PROCESS) - 27/03/2009 ( COMPLETED)

As I had recorded the parts I utmostly needed. I went on a computer and started a long process of choosing the Correct recording as some of them had many mistakes. I had chosen my recordings and started to compile and add them to the progam were I can cut certain bits out, pan the recordings as well as adding the right sound effects.

I had to add right sound effects so it is perfect for the time of day aswell as sharing the link with my intended audience. As I have mentioned in my Past Entries.

Through out the two months I had done many recordings with my group in which we edited differently afterwards. We had to write out the scripts to have as less mistakes as possible whilst in the recording studio even though we could cut out the little mistakes with Adobe Audition.

When I had recorded my my 5 minute radio jingle I had to construct it in such a way that it flows and sounds as professional as possible. I had visited a website were you could get free sound samples which I had used effectively as possible. I had used conventions of an radio broadcast such as Theme Tunes, Voxpop, a Serious Story as well as an Humorous story.

I had took so long to complete my radio jingle due to customising my Radio Jingle and tweaking it as much as I could from advice and criticisms from my peers. I had re- recorded certain parts of recordings due to it sounding unclear so it was near clear quality.

When I had deconstructed radio broadcasts I had picked out the conventions I wanted to use and I had picked up on how the tone and speed of it was and what stories were being broadcasted. I had added sounds in between stories so listeners can differentiate and so It flows quickly and efficiently.

When I had finished my editing I was satisfied I had realised that whilst listening to it wearing headphones the sound differentiated from how it sounded from my speakers so I left it as it will take alot of time on a tight schedule to redo alot of parts

How I added the Convention of Voxpops in My 5 minute Jingle

For My first story which was about a fatal stabbing in Neasden on a 182 bus. I had to other local residents idea's on the incident itself and how is it being delt with properly
With my group we had interviewed a couple of locals on Wembley High street where we recorded their opinions on what had happend and the rise of knife crime also. There was 2 views on this case one that seems to think Londons crime rate isn't alarming and the one's who think it should be dealt with properly

My Script For the 5 minute Radio Jingle

First of All before recording I had to write a script this is shown below. This is my script of the Radio Jingle. As a group we had different section of the script this is mine shown below.

Hello it’s Hitesh Varsani and your listening to W.A.V.Y Fm today we have 3 different stories which are:
Local boy stabbed in Wembley
The increase in A Level results In Brent
And a ridiculous day when the sky went black and many people thought it was a scene from the film apocalypse.

First the tragic story of a youth getting stabbed whilst on the 182.
We are going to Nathan Wauchope for the latest developments on this case.

(Nathan Wauchope Should have his script)

The knife crime epidemic in London has sadly gained another victim this week.

A teenager is fighting for his life after he was stabbed on a 182 bus in Wembley.

The Police were called at 1.30pm, to Wembley Park Underground Station where they found the injured 17-year-old in a critical condition.

He was taken to an east London hospital by air ambulance and is still fighting for his life.

A weapon has not been recovered and there have been no arrests.

Our thoughts are now with the family of the teen.

With this incident the total number of fatal stabbings has increased to a shocking 7 this year alone, despite a crackdown by the government on knife crime.

Our 2nd story is on the Rising AS Levels in Brent

1.Hitesh: Now we have Zeinab Yamout, one of the Local Education Officer
2.Zeinab: Hello, nice to meet you!

1. What do you think of the cause of the rising A-Level results in Brent?
2. I think that the children of today now see that A-Levels are actually quite important in the future and are trying to work hard on getting the grades they know they can achieve.

1. Do you think the rise of A-Level results will see an increase in university applicant from this Area?
2. I think so, yes, now that they have achieved their grades at A-Level, they can go on and achieve a higher level at University and could even get a degree.

1. A-Level in Brent is still considerable lower than the rest of the UK. What do you think the Government can do to change it?
2. I think that the Government can go inspect the teachers while they are teaching A-Level student and maybe talk to the student individually and see they feel about the learning environment in their College or 6th Form.

H1 - Saving the best till last. A group of locals scared for their lives thought the sky went black instead it was a flock of pigeons. Now we go to Hadiya Abdi; a resident of the area and an avid birdwatcher. Why don’t you tell us about what happened earlier today?

H2 – several residents this morning woke up to find that the sky was pitch-black and without any other logical explanation many people began to think it was the end of the world

H1 – so what really did happen?

H2 – the large black cloud turned out to be a large flock of pigeons, which was indeed very unusual as pigeons rarely travel in such large groups

H1 – so we can’t really blame them for thinking the apocalypse had arrived?

H2 – (Laugh) I guess not

How I maximised the use of the program (ADOBE AUDITION)

Today at the CLC I was getting a grip on how to use Adobe Audition. I learnt the basic features of this program which i may use in my Editing and sound mixing of the 5 minute radio jingle. Aswell as adding the basic feautures to my disposal i also learnt the much complicated features of the software aswell. I had learnt how to pan, fade in and out properly. Today was a kick start for my 5 minute radio jingle

How I got my sound effects

To get my sound effects I had to find websites which use sounds that weren't copy writed. So after a few tries on Google I had finally found a site which helped me achieve and add proffessionalism to my broadcast. The sounds I had found were from a free source so it was freely acessable to the whole group

Preparation of my Script

For the preparation of my script I had to work in a group so I can understand my role fully and how to act it fully, aswell as deconstructing jingles. We all helped eachother with questions to be asked and how they could be answered. To write my script I had many drafts so I can perfect it and make sound as professional as possible. I had also wrote out and rephrased some questions to ask questions to my guests.

Starting and preparation of my 5 minute Radio Jingle

Before actually starting my 5 minute radio jingle, I had to deconstruct many radio broadcasts so I can pick out the normal conventions of them. I had to see the tone's of the DJ, the pace of the broadcasts, how many stories they were in 5 minutes and how quick each one was read.
This is what i based my own 5 minute jingle on. I also had to choose the stories that I was going to present in my broadcast.
As a group of 4 we both divided the roles as the Presesnter(Inside the Studio), Outside Broadcaster( Person outside reporting a serious story), Education Minister( She is visiting in the Studio), and a funny story(which someone had rang in).
Above are some of the conventions of a short Radio Broadcast

My Final Day on the Preliminary Radio Jingle

Today was the day. Me and my friend printed out the script and went to the studio to record our jingle and 30 second preliminary broadcast.
When we first went into the studio we had to get used to the controls and the systems we had to use and how to familiarise with them for future purposes on our actual 5 minute radio jingle.
When we had to recorded our scripts we had to edit some of them on the computer due to some mistakes with the recordings.
We edited it our recordings in our own ways by adding different sound effects which we had downloaded from a free sourced website due to certain constrictions on using copyrighted sounds.
I had completed it and presented it to my teachers who checked and evaluated it so i can enhance it in the right area's.

Deconstructing A Radio Jingle

To attempt and create a Radio Jingle that would last for 30 seconds we as a class analysed and differentiated the conventions that were used so we could use them in our preliminary task.
The radio broadcast i had deconstructed was:

Radio Jingle Deconstruction
(Jingle 7)

Capital Breakfast Show

Right from, the start it is a upbeat tune and is most likely to be played in the morning to wake you up or play while have breakfast because of the name as well.

The voice of the woman is also upbeat she is also singing in course with the beat making it sound more fluent and more professional.

This particular Radio Clip is for Young Adults due to the upbeat music and it is very interesting

The woman starts singing and says what is going to be on the radio show today, also when the man comes in the upbeat music is still playing and he stating that they have great songs and they are going to play 10 of them in a row.

After this particular man is finished speaking there is a clip of a particular song that is going to be played later on.

Before the clip is played the woman states what the radio station is called and tells us what the frequency is.

The beat is very repetitive and sound like loop so it will stick in the peoples head so when they remember the tune they’ll know what the radio station is called.

When the man starts speaking the music fades out just for a second then when he starts it comes back but at a lower volume. After the message the music volume is restored back to normal.

My Preliminary 30 Second Radio Jingle

To start things off,Bold in lessons with my peers I had deconstructed different radio broadcasts to help me grasp the conventions of radio stations. How long they are? What is in the Broadcasts such as Weather, Sports, Serious News and so on and so forth. This will make it easier for me to create a 30 Second Radio Jingle.

Beginning of my Media Studies Coursework

For my media studies coursework I am creating a 5 minute radio jingle for a Local Radio station.

To complete this task I first had to do a preliminary task which will help me recognise and help me undestand how to use the programme Adobe Audition to it's maximum capacity. My Preliminary task consisted me to deconstruct other radio broadcasts and use the conventions of Radio Shows as well to help create and perfect my 5minute broadcast.
